Bridging the Gap – Moving Conversations – March – May 2025
‘Bridging the Gap – Moving Conversations’ was a delightful and memorable collaboration between Samphire, the Isle of Wight College’s Performing Arts department and music maker, Noah Johnson. Pooling our resources we created a very special opportunity for dancers and artists across the generations to create together. Over a series of 3 (2 hour) workshops, friendships were formed, and a genuine feeling of trust and equality flourished. Inspired by the theme of communication, the company devised thoughtful and beautiful movement pieces – proving that creativity transcends age. The success of our exhibition can be seen in the visitor’s comments: “I loved every minute! Thank you all for a very moving experience. Pure joy to see you all” and, “Teen-agers moving as one”

Generate Dance – November 2024

Generate Dance was a dance sharing on November 9th 2024 to celebrate the work of Samphire community dance company and the performing arts students at the Isle of Wight College, and the NTR dancers (over 55s from the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth). It was a lovely experience. Here’s what some of our audience said:
“What a lovely community project. I really enjoyed the dance sharing. The commitment, humour, grace and creativity was a joy. The mutual respect and support of the dancers was palpable. Well done to you and all the dancers.” Mary Flyn (artist)
“Thank you all so very much for inviting me to Quay Arts on Saturday to watch your very professional show. I so enjoyed coming along ,it was a very very happy lovely experience and I really felt part of it all even though I wasn’t dancing .” Fran (former Samphire dancer)”
“Just wanted to say a big well done for the show on Saturday, it was really fantastic! Wonderful to see expression and joy!” Claire Paul, (former dance teacher and now Cultural Education Partnership Manager at Creative Island)
